New Aprons

Today was a busy day.  We had a meeting in the morning, although it was all in Kinyarwanda, the language spoken in Rwanda.  After the meeting we all sat down and had tea.  I finally tasted African Tea… it was terrible.  Not sure I know what it was but it definitely had a lot of milk and sugar.  We handed out the new aprons and badges.  What do you guys think?

To try and turn a profit, I am attempting to make carrot cupcakes.  I think I can sell them for 1000 rwf, which is about $1.40.  I will let you know how they taste and if we really sell any.

I met the representative for Costco that buys the Kirkland coffee from Rwanda.  Interesting to note that the Kirkland coffee called Rwandan is organic and fair trade.  I really love Rwanda’s coffee, so it must be good.  He also said that the Papua New Guinea coffee is really great.  From now on, I am going to Costco for Kirkland coffee.

Louise, the office manager, had to leave early today, so I was able to get some inputs in the accounting system and went to the Butare Museum.   I was so frustrated yesterday with the books that I felt I needed to get away from it.

I also bought my ticket for the weekend excursion to the rain forest.  I spent over 30 minutes trying to understand the guy.  I finally figured that he was trying to tell me that I had to pay extra to get a seat on the bus because it comes from Kigali and will be full.  Did I tell you how much I hate buses?  They go way too fast and are packed with people.

I ended up eating French fries again for dinner.  I believe I have gained weight because I am eating so unhealthy.  Tomorrow I will attempt to dye my hair.  I only brought enough for one time, so I am really trying to wait until Saturday.  I hate getting old.  Perhaps I should just let it go gray!!  It sure would be easier for traveling.

I hope to get a good night sleep tonight.  I am definitely sleep deprived.  Have a great day.  Paula
